Voice Interaction | Extended Infiniti QX Multi-modal experience

Concept Car

Voice interaction flows, rapid prototyping, extension of original project

Role

Lead UX Designer

The original engagement

As lead UX designer and researcher on the concept engagement, I translated research and emerging technology exploration into journey maps, flows, wireframes, and proposed interactions across screens, voice, and biometrics. I collaborated with a global team on requirements and feature opportunities in a future-state ADAS and autonomous-driving context.

The interaction problem

In a shared vehicle, recognition alone does not establish who is speaking, which seat a request concerns, or whether a one-time adjustment should be saved. A chatty assistant can also compete with driving. I use a reversible action to expose those decisions: “Make my side cooler.”The goal is a brief path for the immediate adjustment and explicit permission before saving. A known, user-controlled setting may be recalled in context; a biometric signal alone cannot establish identity, intent, and consent.

The proposed experience

Driving mode: One utterance adjusts a single setting when side and action are clear. A short spoken confirmation and brief screen state complete the turn.
Parked mode: The driver can inspect, name, or save a preference. Explicit confirmation precedes any profile change.
Physical and on-screen controls remain available. This scope boundary is proposed, not validated safety performance.

BRIEF
How should a shared vehicle respond to a driver’s preferences without making the driver manage a conversation? In the Infiniti QX Inspiration concept engagement, I explored personalization across voice, biometrics, and displays. Here I develop climate preference into an explicit voice interaction model. The grammar and dialogue below are my 2026 portfolio extension, not a shipped Infiniti feature or tested production system.
